--US Congressman Solomon Ortiz, in conjunction with The University of Texas at Brownsville/Texas Southmost College, is presenting the 2008 Congressional Veterans and Military Summit on January 12, 2008.
--A call goes out to all Veterans/Military and friends & family of Veterans/Military around the South Texas region to attend this Summit to find out what benefits they might be missing out on, and to learn about anything else of interest concerning Veterans and Military permanently or temporarily living in the South Texas area.
--Joining Ron to elaborate on the issues to be covered at the Summit are Congressman Ortiz's Deputy Chief of Staff Denise Blanchard, Master Sergeant (Retired) Salvador Salinas of the Veterans Office of Cameron County, and the Administrative Officer for the South Texas VA Health Center in Harlingen, TX, Larry Alva.
--Also of great import is the call made to all resident Veterans of the South Texas/Rio Grande Valley region, from Corpus Christi to Laredo, including Winter Texans, to attend the Summit so that they can also register their names on a list which is being compiled to present to the VA in order to show that the Rio Grande Valley area does indeed have the numbers to justify the construction of a Veterans Hospital in South Texas.

The Summit will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2008 from 9:00AM to 3:00PM at the Jacob Brown Auditorium, 600 International Blvd, Brownsville, TX 78520.
There will be a Job Fair, a Health Fair, Exhibits and Free Refreshments!
